Fraulein Barker was born Aug. 5, 1912 to Edward and Frances Duckworth Dukes, in Chariton, Iowa. She was a resident of Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center for two years and passed away there Aug. 26, 2002, at the age of 90 years and 21 days.
Fraulein grew up in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1933. She was united in marriage Dec. 9, 1933 to Lloyd H. Tacker in Davenport, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, David Lee and Joan Elizabeth. Lloyd passed away in 1947 and Fraulein was united in marriage to Bernard M. Barker Nov. 21, 1958. Bernard passed away April 27, 1986.
Fraulein was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was the secretary of Eagles Auxiliary for 24 years, from 1965 to 1989. She was also a loving homemaker, spending her life taking care of her family.
Fraulein was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Frances, and husbands, Lloyd and Bernard.
She is survived by her son David Tacker of Ft. Dodge; her daughter Joan Storie of Albia; a sister Donna Rae Reeves of Lebanon, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Chariton Cemetery with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Services were conducted by Fielding Funeral Home of Chariton.
