Gertrude Newton Dies at Elwood
Elwood - Mrs Gertrude Newton, 85, 1335 South I Street, died at Mercy Hospital this morning at 5:30 after a few days illness.

She was born May 18, 1876, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Sosbe.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs Leslie Carroll, Covington, Ohio; Mrs Ernest Schigley, Florida; Mrs Earl Breeze, Tipton, and Mrs Leroy Wells, Elwood; three sons, Charles Hook, Shelbyville, Roy Hook, Wabash; Forrest Hook, Tipton; three stepsons, Roy and Ralph Newton, both of Anderson and Glenn Newton, Alexandria; a sister, Mrs Harry Fore, Poneta; a brother, Thurman Sosbem Rochester; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home where friends will be received after noon Sunday and where services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m.. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetary in Windfall.
