MRS. WHITTLESEY DIES TUESDAY

Mrs. W. W. Whittlesey, 89, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Smith, 722 Auburn avenue. She had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Whittlesey had been a resident of Lucas county for 65 years. Her home was near Russell until April, 1943, when she came to Chariton and has since lived here.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edith Smith and Mrs. George Gurwell, of Chariton and Mrs. Jas. Slater, of Omaha, Nebr.; twelve grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. May Fisher, of Omaha, Nebr. Her husband preceded her in death about thirteen years ago.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. T. Bloom, of the Chariton Christian church were held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Russell Methodist church and burial was in the Russell cemetery.
