MISHAWAKA - Cecile C. Banghart, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Cecile was born December 4, 1923, a daughter of the late Alfred and Versia (Giles) Cunningham. She grew up in Americus, Indiana and graduated from Buck Creek High School. Following high school she moved to the Michiana area for work. In 1942, Cecile married Doyle Banghart and they lived in the Edwardsburg area for a few years before settling in Mishawaka. Over the years her employment included Kentucky Fried Chicken, Ayr-Way, Target, G.L. Perry and K-Mart and she retired in 2004. Cecile was a member of Gospel Center Missionary Church in South Bend. She was a great cook and is remembered for her many homemade dishes. Cecile enjoyed flower gardening and always wanted her yard to look nice. She loved people and particularly liked helping and interacting with people at her work. Cecile's family was an important part of her life. Those surviving her include her five children, Judy Parker of Mishawaka, Sandra Hammond of Mishawaka, Diane (Richard) DeCloedt of Mishawaka, Tom (Sandy) Banghart of Crawfordsville, Florida and Denny Banghart of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren, Debbie Lyon, Thomas (Wendy) Parker, Jr., Alan (Wendy) Cookerly, Jr., Heather (Louis) Kranz, Shelley (Kevin) Hess, Stephanie Blake, Robin (Frank) Millar, Tony DeCloedt, Jennifer Noell, Tom (Sherry) Banghart, Jr., Branden Banghart, Aimee (Mark) Aikins and Garrett Banghart; 27 great grandchildren; four sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Hallar, Helen Foster, Harriett Anderson, Marge (Bill) Schmuki; two brothers, Jack (Kate) Cunningham and Bob (Joyce) Cunningham; and a sister-in-law, Barb Cunningham. Cecile was preceded in death by her husband on February 10, 1985; as well as two brothers, Dale and Gene Cunningham; two brothers-in-law, Bob Foster and Cliff Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Helen Cunningham. Friends may spend time with Cecile's family from 4 - 8 pm Wednesday and from 10 - 11 am Thursday in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka. Services honoring her life will be held 11 am Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Charles Husted officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Contributions in Cecile's memory may be given to Gospel Center Missionary Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
