MRS. WM. H. KENTON
Mary Catherine Allen, daughter of John and Louisa Allen, was born near New York, Wayne county, Ia., on October 13, 1854, and passed away in Russell on December 26, 1935, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 13 days. She was the youngest of 10 children and the last surviving member of her family.
On October 24, 1875, she was united in marriage to Wm. H. Kenton. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive and live in or near Russell. They are: Mrs. Nevada Foster, Mrs. Ada Ashba, John W. Kenton and Martin J. Kenton.
Soon after her marriage she and Mr. Kenton moved to Brown county, Kansas, where they lived for eight years, then returned to Russell and that place had since been her home.
When quite young Mrs. Kenton accepted Christ as her Savior and had since lived an exemplary and consistent christian life. For many years she had been a member of the Christian church at Russell.
She had been in ill health for several months but had been very patient and uncomplaining, and greatly appreciated the tender care afforded to her. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, and a true friend and splendid neighbor.
Besides her children she is survived by twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and other relatives. Her husband preceded her in death on July 3, 1926.
Funeral rites were held at the Russell Baptist church the following Sunday afternoon and burial was in the Russell cemetery.
