John was married to Lydia Antoinette Westerman on Oct. 11, 1932, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, Missouri, and they had five children.

John H. Groner, 63, of 1315 E. McCarty St., a retired Jefferson City business man, died unexpectedly Wednesday. A native of Folk, Mr. Groner was born Oct. 6, 1907, the son of Stephen and Regina Veltrop Groner. On Oct. 11, 1932, at Westphalia, he was married to the former Miss Lydia Westerman, who survives.
Other survivors include: Three sons, Richard Groner, 421 Lark St., Bernard Groner, 411 Lark St., and the Rev. John Groner, Immaculate Conception Seminary. Two brothers, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Bernard Groner, 126 Riverside Dr., and Gerhard Groner, Mokane; one sister, Miss Anna Groner, 126 Riverside Dr.; and seven grandchildren.
Before his retirement, Mr. Groner headed the firm of John Groner Motor Carrier Inc.
Mr. Groner was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of that parish, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the board of directors for the St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gerald Kaiser, the Rt. Rev. Bernard Groner [John's brother] and the Rev. John Groner [John's son] officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
