Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" J. Spriggs, 83, of New Carlisle, and formerly of New Buffalo, Mich., died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. La Porte County time at Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle.
She was born Feb. 15, 1924, in New Carlisle to George and Mary (Norris) Carr.
Mrs. Spriggs was a member of Galena Baptist Church and was very active for years in Child Evangelism. She taught many Bible classes for children over the years. She loved to sew, garden, make crafts and travel. She was a wonderful mother and unofficially adopted many people who called her Mom.
On June 27, 1943, she married Otis Paul Spriggs, who died in 1995.
Her parents and one son, Robert, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Lorelei Milcoff of Maryland; five grandchildren, Abram, Scott and Keegan Milcoff and Eric and Janelle Spriggs; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Carr and Arlene Sigors; three brothers, George, Richard and Paul Carr; and daughter-in-law Cindy of New Buffalo.
The funeral will be Monday at noon at Galena Baptist Church, La Porte, with Rev. Floyd Wilcox officiating. Friends may call at the church Monday from 9 a.m. until the service. Interment will be in Heckman Cemetery, La Porte. Cutler Funeral Home, La Porte, is in charge of arrangements.
