Elizabeth "Bettie" was the daughter of Elizabeth Francis and William Hale. She married first to MR. GAUT between 1850-1856 in probably Hamilton County, Tennessee. They had sons George W, born 1856, and James, born 1860. Mr. Gaut must have died between 1860 and 1867. Bettie married John Biggs on September 5, 1867 in Hamilton County, Tennessee (per my 2nd cousin's research). She and John had a daughter, Mary J, born in 1869. They are living at Buffalo in Dallas county, Missouri, on the 1870 census near many of Bettie's family, including her mother. Little is known of the family after this. A short article from The Buffalo Reflex, Buffalo, Missouri, on February 3, 1916 gives the following news from nearby Urbana: "Aunt Betty Biggs is very sick of pneumonia, and is not expected to recover."
