DeKalb Junction - Wife of a well-known barber in DeKalb Junction, Mrs. Josephine sterling LaRock, 65, died Friday at 8:30pm in the Edward J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur, where she was admitted Monday night.
Mrs. LaRock underwent a gall stone operation in May at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. Complications persisted which prevented recovery.
Her husband, William LaRock, who survives, has a dance orchestra well-known in the north-country, and Mrs. LaRock was an accordionist with this orchestra.
Mrs. LaRock was born on Dec 11, 1891 at Macomb, a daughter of Fred and Harriet Washburn Sterling. Her marriage to Mr. LaRock took place on Dec 13, 1910 in Ogdensburg. The couple had resided in DeKalb Junction for 30 years.
Surviving besides her husband are six sons and three daughters: Arthur, Watertown; Roy and Walter, Syracuse; Lowell, Donald and Marvin; Mrs. Marion Kerr, Mrs. James (Ruth) Frisco, all of Gouverneur and Mrs. Harold (Charlotte) Rumple Plainsville, Ind. A daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Harriet) Gray died a year ago. Two sisters also survive. Mrs. Margaret Cameron, Brooklyn and Mrs. Flora Tosch, Rochester. There are 18 grandchildren.
