Ozias Hawley was born to John and Rosanna Tuller Hawley in Simsbury Twp., Hartford Co., Connecticut in 1764. He married Sarah Spring on Dec. 5, 1786 of Sandisfield, Mass. To their union were born seven known children, and in addition, one adopted son Corydon Ozias Hawley. Mr. Hawley was a Revolutionary War veteran. He enlisted July of 1779 and marched from Simsbury Township, Hartford Co., Connecticut to Horseneck where he was on duty for one month, following which he returned home. He re-enlisted in June 1780. He resided in Simsbury, Conn.; Otis and Sandisfield, Mass.; and then migrated to Portage County, Ohio in 1829. Probable first cousin of Chauncey Hawley who settled in Paris Township in 1815.
