Pearl Gard
Pearl Gard, 84 226 N W J St., died Friday morning at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was a retired farmer.
A native of Brookston, he spent most of his life in Wayne County and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
His wife, Sarah, died in 1955 and one daughter, Mary L. Grove, died from injuries received in the April 6, 1968, downtown Richmond explosion.
Survivors include four daughters, Marjorie Pelfery, Doris Pickering and Nina Houser, all of Richmond, and Wanda Aukerman of Eaton Ohio; three sons Robert of Middletown, Ohio and Fred and Sam of Richmond; 34 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Pearl Gard will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlos E. Wardwell of Fairview Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Boston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Unit of the American Heart Association.
