Mattie (Duggins) Swayne
Mattie Swayne, 92, of Ozark, died at 10:46 a.m.:, Sunday, Nov. 12, 1996, in Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born March 7, 1903, in Ocie, Mo. and was the daughter of Paton and Lucy Duggins. She taught school in this area for thirteen years. In September of 1925, she married Carl Swayne. They lived on a farm at Chadwick until his death in 1963. Mrs. Swayne then moved to Ozark and worked as a cook at Fisher's Steak House for fifteen years. She was a charter member of First General Baptist Church, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Ozark Chapter #98. Survivors include: Two children.
Funeral services were Wednesday in Ozark General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Applegate officiating. Burial was in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
