He was born February 16, 1934, in Bismarck, the son of Charles H. and Shirley E. (Suverly) Burtts. He was raised and educated in the Bismarck area.
Chuck joined the United States Army in April, 1954, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He received the highest award for physical fitness in his company.
He married Virginia Herberholz on November 1, 1958, in Bismarck.
Chuck worked for Northern Improvement for a number of years and was self employed in the later years. For the last 5 years, he and his friend, "wife", spent their winters at River Lodge, Parker Dam, California; where they enjoyed some of the best years of their lives.
He loved his family dearly and golf was his number one passion.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny"; 1 uncle and aunt, Earl and Betty Suverly of Hebron, ND; 6 sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and George Snyder of Newberg, OR, Violet and Ben Clooten of Bismarck, ND, Harriet and Joe Schantz of Naches, WA, Jean and Russell Knowlen of Rapid City, SD, Arlene and Ralph Auch of Orangeville, CA, and Judy and Arlen Bailey of Mandan, ND; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Josie Fogarty of Newberg, OR, Clarence and Helena Burtts of Linton, ND, and William and Lorraine Burtts of Hazelton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to senders' favorite charity or the American Cancer Society.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, August 2, 1995 at 11:00 am at Glencoe Sloan Memorial Presbyterian Church in rural Bismarck, ND, with the Rev. Ben Dove officiating.
