Rasmus Larson, a well known and successful farmer of the town of Rutland, is a native of Denmark. Lars and Anna Larson, his parents were born in Rudkjobing, Denmark, where they were educated and married and spent their lives upon a farm in the neighborhood. Their oldest son, Christian, died; the two younger ones, Lars and Rasmus came to America and both settled in Ruland. Rasmus was born near Rudkjobing May 7, 1837, attended school in Denmark until he was fifteen years of age and then worked out. In 1866, he came to Rock county, Wis., where he obtained seventy acres of land, which we worked for eight years. This was sold and the farm know as the Cooper farm purchased, which has since been the home of the family. Mr. Larson is a Republican but has never interested himself actively in politics or desired to hold office. In October 1866 he married Miss Caroline Christenson, daughter of Christian and Maria Christianson, natives to Denmark. Mrs. Larson's father died in Denmark and his widow joined her children in America. Mr. and Mrs. Larson have five sons and daughters. Anna, the oldest is the wife of John Anderson of Oregon, Wis., Augusta married Andrew Christianson of Stoughton, Hanna is Mrs. Paul Nelson and resides in the town of Rutland, William and Mary remain at home. All have been well-educated and the family is prominent in the Danish Lutheran church of Rutland.

OBITUARY:
Rasmus Larson was born in Langeland, Denmark, May 7th 1837. He was married to Caroline Federiksen. In the spring of 1866 they emigrated to America, locating at first near Fulton, Rock Co., WI., where they resided two years. Thence moving to Rutland, in which township, deceased spent forty-one years of his life, following the vocation of a farmer.
He lived a quiet, peaceful life honest and upright in his dealings with his fellowmen. His health beginning to fall, he left the farm and moved to Oregon three years ago, residing in the house previously owned by Oscar Flint. An only son preceded him in death nearly four years ago.
Left to mourn him are his widow, four daughters: Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Andrew Christensen, Mrs. Paul Nelson, all living near Oregon. And Matilda May residing at home; also one brother eight grandchildren., and two great grandchildren.
He departed his life April 20th aged 74 years, 11 months and 13 days.
The funeral was held April 23. A short service at the home after which the remains were taken to the Danish Lutheran church in Rutland of which deceased has been a member for a number of years. Re. Nelson of Oregon officiated. The remains were laid to rest in the Graves cemetery.
