Peter David Reitz is the son of Godfrey Reitz and Catharine Thomas. He died in Oliver Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.

He married first to Catherine Himes (1840-1874). They had two daughters, Mary Emma (1866-1928) who married Perry Franklin Hetrick and Lydia Margaret born 1868.

Peter married second to Elizabeth E. Funk (1849-1915). They had the following eleven children: Lavina Margaret 1876-1951) married David Irwin Dinger; Samuel Thomas 1877-1970; Benjamin Franklin 1878-1955; John Alvin 1878-1883; Ella May 1881-1953 married Dorse Arthur Geist; Peter David 1883-1949; William Alvis 1885-1969; Edward Ash 1886-1888; Elizabeth Leah 1888-1926 married David R. Stewart; Willimena 1891-1951 married Oria Edward Kerner; Rosa Ann 1896-1969 married 1st Benjamin Olen Brosius 2nd Wallace Clair Geist.
