Dr. Benjamin Franklin Bailey, 81, of Augusta County, died Thursday afternoon (Feb. 1, 1973) in a local hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1891 in Augusta County, a son of William H. and Sara Catherine (Coiner) Bailey.
Dr. Bailey was a graduate of Augusta Military Academy and attended college at the University of Virginia, the Medical College of Virginia and studied in Vienna, Austria. He taught school at Marion Junior College for three years and later was a surgeon in the Navy during World War I.
Surviving are a brother, Clarence A. Bailey of Staunton; a sister, Miss Lillie Bailey of Stuarts Draft, and a number of nieces and nephews.
