His brother, Floyd, married Nettie Miller. Leroy was Nettie's favorite brother-in-law. Leroy handmade a silver stick pin which he gave to Nettie, who gave it to her daughter Laura Rose who gave it to her daughter, Sharry Anne. Leroy was often called Roy, and never married. He was a core-maker, and died of tuberculosis. His last address was 89 Clark Street, Battle Creek. Aged 26 years 7 months and 28 (29?) days.

The 1900 Michigan census lists the family living in Convis, Calhoun County, Charles and Laura with children Floyd, Roy, Don, Everett and Vera. Charles parents were born in Ohio, Laura's were born in New York.
