Wife of Alvis Elmo Morris. Married Nov. 29, 1939.

Mrs. Virginia May Puryear Morris went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 100. Born on May 29, 1920, she was the daughter to the late Howard Lee and Minnie Idora Forlines Puryear and was married to the late Alvis Elmo “A.E.” Morris for 74 years.

Virginia was a homemaker and co-owner of A.E. Morris Trucking. Spending time with her beloved family was her favorite thing in life. She was a wonderful cook and was known far and wide for her delicious homemade biscuits made only with Martha White Self-Rising flour! She was a member of Union Christian Church.

Left to cherish her memories are sons: Alvah Lee “Al” Morris and Ronald Wade Morris and wife Betty; grandchildren, Vivian M. Broach and husband Steve Willard, Lisa M. Long and husband Nick, John Murphy Morris, Tammy M. Wall and husband Jeremy, Tina M. Midkiff and husband Bran, Tracy M. Clark and husband Charlie, Adam Wade Morris, Crystal M. Ingram and husband Travis; great grandchildren, Lelia Nichole Holland, Joshua Derek Stone, Brittany L. Johnson and husband Brandon, Phillip Landon Broach, Kayleigh Linwood Long, Brandon Wayne Morris, Jacob Spencer Broach, Lyndsay Michelle Morris, David Jordan Clark, Benjamin Tyler Clark, Hannah Leigh Clark, Ashley Nicole Clark, Aaron Michael Clark, Emily M. Hudson and husband Dylan, Stephen Jeremiah Wall, Annah Grace Wall and Lucas Bryson Ingram; great great-grandchildren, Ava Kierstan Holland, Haley Peyton Holland, and Emmett Wilson Morrow, Gunner Blaine Lawhorn, and Nash Owen Hudson; daughter-in-law, Letty Ann W. Morris and sisters, Clara P. Wimmer and Katherine P. Kimbrough.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wayne Morris, daughter-in-law, Elaine Morris; granddaughter, Angel Leigh Morris and siblings, Alma P. Comer, Wilson Puryear, William Puryear, Esther Tillotson, Robert Puryear, Myrtis P. Brann and Barbara Ann P. Anderson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Virgilina Cemetery Amphitheater with Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Interment will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service. Public viewing will be anytime at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home during business hours.
