Mr. Donald Wayne Morris of Virginia, VA passed away peacefully at his
home on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. He was born in Halifax County, VA on
September 8, 1942 and was 71 years of age. He was the oldest son of A.
E. and Virginia Purcell Morris of Virgilina, VA. Wayne is survived by the
love of his life and wife of 51 years, Lefty Williams Morris also of
Virginia. Wayne was a member of North Fork Baptist Church in Virginia, VA.

Wayne was head mechanic of A. E. Morris Hauling and owner and operator
of Wayne Morris General Hauling, Inc. from age eighteen until his death.
Hobo and the "Major of Redbank" were his nicknames and used by his close
friends and family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all that
country life had to offer. Wayne loved all types of hunting, especially
coon and deer, as well as fishing. He trained champion coon hounds and
was ranked as one of Virginia's top five coon hunters for four
consecutive years by the magazines "Prohound" and "Coonhound
Bloodlines". Wayne loved his many hunting and fishing trips across the
US and Canada. Mr. Morris was a huge NASCAR fan who cheered on his
favorite drivers from South Boston Speedway all the way to Daytona. He
traveled with his wife and friends to all fifty states, Canada, Mexico,
and the Caribbean. Playing cards was a great pastime for him as well.
Spending time with his three children, his "Great Eight" grandchildren,
and three great-grandchildren brought him the most joy.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters,
Vivian Morris Broach of Roxbury, NC and Lisa Morris Long and husband
Nick Long of Virginia and one son, John Murphy Morris and Ann Hudson
also of Virginia, eight grandchildren Leila Nicole Holland, Joshua Derek
Stone, Brittany Wayne Long, Phillip London Broach, Rayleigh Lin wood
Long, Brandon Wayne Morris, Jacob Spencer Broach, and Lindsay Michelle
Morris and three great grandchildren Alva Kingston Holland, Haley Perot
Holland and Emmett Wilson Morrow, two brothers, Al Morris and wife
Elaine, and Ronald Morris and wife Betty, all of Virgilina, and a host of
family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Morris will be held on Saturday, January 4th at
2pm at North Fork Baptist Church in Virgilina with the Rev. Norman Tally
conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The
family will receive friends and family on Friday, January 3rd from
6:30-8:30pm at Brooks Funeral Home in South Boston, VA and at other
times at the home.

Per Wayne's requests to help others who are battling cancer, in lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Halifax County Cancer Association,
