Elizabeth Jane "Betsy" Bishop Jump was the daughter of Joseph Bishop and his second wife, Mary "Polly" Bursley (aka Beardsley). She was born in the Town of Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York where her father was a Farmer. Betsy would have spent a few years in the Town of Lansing in adjacent Tompkins Co., New York before returning to Scipio where she grew up. Betsy married George Jump on 30 September 1847 in Scipio. Shortly thereafter, Betsy and George removed to Tod Township, Crawford Co., Ohio where they were censused in 1850. By 1860, Betsy and George were in adjacent Texas Township where George was a Farmer. Betsy died in 1866. Betsy and George had seven children: Caroline, Charity Elizabeth, Mary Jane, Olive Adelaide, Florence R., Emily May, and Lora Belle Jump.
