Bio: Florence R. Jump Van Liew (aka VanLiew) was the daughter of George Jump and Elizabeth Jane "Betsy" Bishop. Florence's parents had removed from the Town of Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York to Crawford Co., Ohio shortly after their marriage in 1847. Florence was born in either Tod Township or adjacent Texas Township in Crawford Co. where her father was a Farmer. Her mother died there in 1866. Florence returned to Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York following the death of her mother, where she was listed as a Domestic Servant in the household of her uncle, Theodore Jump in 1870. Her six siblings all remained in Ohio. Florence married George R. Van Liew (aka VanLiew) on 10 September 1878. Florence and George thereafter resided in Scipio where George farmed with his father, Fayette Van Liew, until at least 1900. Florence and George continued to farm in Scipio following Fayette's death in 1903, remaining until at least 1920. They later lived with their daughter, Georgia May Van Liew Walker, in the Town of Fleming, Cayuga Co., New York until George's death in 1926. Florence continued to reside with her daughter for the remainder of her life in Fleming and later Union Springs in the Town of Springport, Cayuga Co., New York where she died in 1945.
