Bio: Joseph Bishop, Jr. was the son of Joseph Bishop, Sr. and his 3rd wife, Mary White, widow of Daniel Hoyt. Joseph, Jr. was born and raised in the Town of Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York where his father was a Farmer. Joseph, Jr. was listed among Scipio men drafted for the Civil War, but it is not known if he actually served. He had married Minerva Yawger, daughter of Philip L. Yawger and Mary Ann Hoagland, of the Town of Springport, Cayuga Co., New York by 1870. Joseph and Minerva resided at Springport where Joseph worked as a Carpenter until at least 1876 but had removed to Pennfield Township, Calhoun Co., Michigan by 1880 where Joseph was listed as a Farmer. Minerva died in 1900. Thereafter, Joseph lived in Battle Creek, Calhoun Co. and again worked as a Carpenter. Joseph died in 1918. Joseph and Minerva are not known to have had any children.

Joseph Bishop, age 77, a former resident of Marshall and of Fredonia, and a brother-in-law of Mrs. W. H. Phelps of this city, died yesterday at Nichols hospital of heart disease. The funeral will occur Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Fredonia Congregational church, and the interment will be at the Fredonia cemetery.
