Daniel was the son of William White and Hannah Russell. He was born when his family lived near the Schuylkill River in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. In the 1820s his family left the USA to pioneer up in Ontario. Daniel grew up in Raleigh Twp. in Kent Co., Ontario.

He married Isa Dolsen on January 26th, 1842 in Chatham, Kent Co., Ontario. They farmed in
the Chatham area from 1842 to 1883, when they moved to California.

Daniel and Isa ran a large ranch in what is now Rivera, in Los Angeles Co. They spent the rest of their lives here.

His Death Notice was printed in the Los Angeles Times, sunday, April 8th, 1906, page 12:

"WHITE - In Rivera, April 6, Daniel White, aged 85."

I have heard that the Broadway Cemetery of Whittier was treated most disgracefully, and that Daniel's headstone is lost or stored away...
