Son of Brantley Hodges and Martha Ann Fulford Hodges. He had 4 sisters Mary Jane, Martha Ann Fernetta, Thersa Alabama, and Carrie Mae (Dolly) 5 brothers Henry,Charles, William Allen, Joseph Floyd and David Kay. They lived in Henry County, Alabama, until 1891, they moved to Hot Spring County, Arkansas.

Andrew married Mary Elizabeth Mann June 26, 1892 in Hot Springs County, Arkansas. They had 7 children. Franklin Artimus Hodges, Letha Lavada Hodges Lawler, Noma Hodges died at he age of 3 months, Dewy Hodges died at 8 months, Carroll Hodges, Mardgre Hodges Coleman, and Ada H. Hodges died at 2 years old.

Andrew had a grocery store in McAlester. He and Lizzy lived behind the store at 319 West Jackson. He continued to run the store after Lizzy death in 1927. He remained at that address until his death.
