Mrs.Rachel Hays, aged 73 years, died in the home of her son John R.Hays, three miles north of Decatur Monday morning at 4 o'clock. Death was caused by pneumonia complicated with heart trouble. Mrs. Hays was well known in this county and was a member of one of the pioneer families of the county. She was the daughter of William Montgomery, who resided near Forsyth. She has lived in Hickory Point township nearly all of her life. She was a prominent member of the Methodist church in Forsyth.
She leaves three sons, Charles, Frank and William Hays who reside in Hickory Point township, three brothers, Samuel Montgomery,Frank Montgomery and P.H.Montgomery of Decatur and three sisters, Mrs.Martha Gulick,Mrs.Mary Hanks and Miss Emma Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held in the Boiling Springs church this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The funeral party will leaves the Hays home at 2 o'clock. The burial will be in Boiling Springs cemetery.
