Fall on Stairs Is Fatal.
Neenah, Dec. 30. – Falling downstairs and receiving a fractured skull proved fatal to Henry (sic) C. Eichmeier.
The accident occurred at New Holstein. He was formerly a resident of Neenah. (sic)

Herman came to the USA on May 18, 1854 on the ship Oldenburg with his older sister, Wilhelmina.

He married Maria Matzen October 3, 1856 in New Holstein, Wisconsin. They were farmers and had nine children.
daughter, Mary, was married to Nicholas Drossel in Iowa and they went to California.

Eichmeier, Herman Christian (May 6, 1835-Dec. 12, 1912 –husband of Maria Matzen [married Oct. 3, 1856 in a civil ceremony, Town of New Holstein, Calumet County] –son of Bernhard Heinrich Eichmeier [1797-1861] and Elizabeth Kraemer [1797-1873] –Herman was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany –sometime before 1864, Herman purchased from the State of Wisconsin the 80 acres of the S1/2 of the SW1/4 of Section 36 in the Town of Charlestown, Calumet County and created a farmstead at N2572 County T –on June 22, 1864, Herman sold a half-acre lot at the intersection of County T and Danes Road for the construction of a public school –on Dec. 9, 1865, Herman sold 18 acres in the southeast corner of his farm to John Gottlieb Dimler who then had a farmstead created at W340 Danes Road –on Jan. 11, 1873, Herman sold his 62-acre farm at N2572 County T to Franz and Pauline Christoph –died from "fracture of the base of skull due to accident") –buried at the New Holstein City Cemetery [marriage record 2-18] [death record 5-890]

1. May 7, 1849 – The US Government grants to the State of Wisconsin the 320 acres of the S1/2 of Section 36, Town of Charlestown, Calumet County. The intention of this grant was to allow the State of Wisconsin to sell this land so as to have money to establish a public school system. (Original Land Entries)

2. Feb. 6, 1864 – The State of Wisconsin sells the 80 acres of the S1/2 of the SW1/4 of Section 36 to Herman Eichmeier and his wife Marie Matzen for $160.00. This date (Feb. 6, 1864) is the date this sale was recorded. The actual sale took place before this recording. A farmstead was then created at N2572 County T. (S-453)

3. June 22, 1864 – Herman and Marie Eichmeier sell a half-acre lot at the intersection of County T and Danes Road to the District Board of Joint School District Number 1 of Charlestown and New Holstein for $5.00. A public school was then built on this lot. There is no land record showing this half-acre lot ever being sold by the school system. Today this lot is overgrown with trees in the center of which is a wood framed building that has mostly fallen away with a brick chimney sticking up into the branches of the trees. (T-225)

4. Dec. 9, 1865 – Herman and Marie Eichmeier sell 18 acres in the southeast corner of their farm to John Gottlieb Dimler and his wife Ursula for $200.00. A farmstead was then created at W340 Danes Road. (V-165)

5. Dec. 9, 1865 – Herman and Marie Eichmeier sell an additional 3/4-acres to John Gottlieb and Ursula Dimler for $5.00. This land was along the south border of the Eichmeier farm and was used by Gottlieb Dimmler to build a driveway from County T to his farmstead at W340 Danes Road. This driveway eventually became Danes Road. (V-164)

6. Jan. 11, 1873 – Herman and Maria Eichmeier sell this now approximately 62-acre farm at N2572 County T to Franz Christoph and his wife Pauline Winkler for $2,000.00. (5-4)
