Born Nov. 17., 1904 in Lewis, she was the daughter of Sherman and Anna (Roeschlein) Bernhardt.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University and a master's degree from DePauw University.
She retired in 1972 after 40 years as an elementary teacher in Clay, Hendricks and Putnam counties. She was a member of Coatesville Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Stanley Baker and Lonnie Moore.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Neier, Coatesville; a son, LeRoy Baker, Plainville; a stepdaughter, Judy McCowen, Naples, Fla.; two stepsons, John Moore, Danville, and Clyde Moore, Des Plains, Ill.; a sister, Ruth McCullough, Center Point; a brother, Harvey Bernhardt, Clayton; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Baysinger; and four brothers, Charles, Herschel, Carl and Everett Moore.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Coatesville Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Coatesville Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville.
