Hannah Bach was born in Norre-Kongerslev, Denmark, April 22, 1846, and passed away September 17, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jens Hansen at Ruskin, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 23 days.

She was united in marriage o (sic) Jens N. Houtwed May 15, 1869, in Denmark. Eight children were born to this union, one preceding her in death in infancy.

She immigrated to the United States with their family in 1884 and settled on a farm three miles south of Ruskin, being among the early pioneers. She was a charter member of Bethany Lutheran church, south of Ruskin, being a faithful member until her death.

Her husband preceded her in death 23 years ago, on September 3, 1912.

She leaves to mourn her departure, seven children, 20 grand children and 13 great grand children, besides other relatives and a host of friends. The children are: three sons, Nels of Ruskin, Chris of Denver, Colo., Harry of Bostwick; and for (sic) daughters, Mrs. Mettie Lundsgaard, Mrs. Mary Benson, Mrs. Christena Hansen and Mrs. Cena Hansen all of Ruskin.

She was quite active for one of her years and has enjoyed good health most of the time until she suffered a stroke the day before she died, from which she never regained consciousness. She was a loving mother, devoted to her family, and will be greatly missed by all.

"Behold, God is my salvaton (sic), I will trust and not be afraid." Isaiah 12:2

Funeral services were held at Bethany Lutheran church (sic) Friday afternoon with Rev. Hauge of Red Cloud, officiating. Interment in Ruskin cemetery (sic).
