This Obituary appeared on or about June 29, 1923 in one of the Anderson Indiana Papers:

Laura A. Landes, Daughter of Hiram and Emily Tucker, was born October 22, 1874 and departed this life June 28, 1923. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Landes, August 28, 1894. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Dora E., Lillie B., Audrey May, and Gladys Marie; four sons, Charles E. and Kenneth, all home; one daughter, Blanche E. having gone before. Two sisters, Mrs. Harry Hawkins of Anderson and Mrs. Leo Pemberton of Jonesboro, and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

About two years ago her health began to fail and she has been a constant sufferer since. For some time she has realized the time was near but she bore her trials patiently and without a murmur.

When the evening shades are falling
And we're sitting all alone
In our hearts there'll come a longing
If she only could come home.

The rose that is sweetest and fairest,
Is the one that is killed by the frost,
The love that is sweetest and rarest,
Is the mother we have lost.

She has left us sad and lonely
Not allowed to say good bye
But we hope and trust to meet her
In her home beyond the skies.

We loved her yes, we loved her,
But the angels loved her more,
So they came and took her
To yonder's shining shore.

The golden gates were opened--
A gentle voice said come,
And with farewell words unspoken,
Our dear mother entered Home.
