Jack E Bowen, 72 Malvern
Jack Eugene Bowen, 72, of Malvern died February 4, 2000 at Manor of Malvern. Funeral services were February 8, 2000 at St John's Lutheran Church in rural Hastings with burial in the North Grove Cemetery in Hastings.
Mr Bowen was the son of Weeren Gilbert and LaNeva Daisy (Parker) Bowen, born July 12, 1927 in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1944 and farmed with his father. He was married to Virginia Rose Kahl June 20, 1948 at St John's Lutheran Church in Mineola. They established their first home in Hastings and eventually settled on a farm outside of Malvern where they were happy farming, raising horses and livestock. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church in rural Hastings, had served as Chairman of Voter' Assembly and sang in the church choir for many years. He served as a Silver Creek Township Trustee, served on the Mills County Fair Board, and was a 4-H leader. They were honored as "Outstanding Leaders' in recognition of their service to 4-H.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jack.
Survivors include his wife; son , Douglas Bowen and wife Sheri of rural Hastings; granddaughter, Julie Bowen of Red Oak; grandson Nick Bowen of Hastings; brother, James Bowen of Spokane, Wash,; sister, Lorraine Boos of Sedro Wooley, Wash; and nieces and nephews.
Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home of Malvern was in charge of arrangements.
