Nora was the daughter of David and Orlena Mayes Miller. Nora would be one more lost to TB which had killed her mother, and two older sisters Hallie and Ethel.

According to the 1900 Census, Nora was born July of 1894. TVA records show the birth year as 1899 which explains why the stone reads that year.

Died: 16 Oct 1967 in Harlem Cty, Kentucky
George married Nora by 1918.
They had three girls:

Frances Emmaline Roberts
Gladys Maybelle Roberts
Stella Louise Roberts Fleenor, born Aug 22, 1923 in Monarch, KY. Lives in Hamilton, OH. Married to Harold D. Fleenor, born Nov 3, 1922 in Clinchfield, Va. Died in Hamilton, OH 3 Apr 1998. Son Harry Kenneth, born March 29, 1944 in KY.

Nora's mother Orlena would die when Nora was about 11 years old. In the 1910 Census, at the age of 16, Nora is not living with her father David E and his 2nd wife Mary.

1920 Census:
Shows George and Nora living in Fork Ridge, TN. They are renting. They show one child, Frances, age 2. George is a coal miner.

George filled out his World War I draft registration card June 1917. It shows he was married at the time and working for Fork Ridge Coal Company. Medium height and build. Brown eyes and hair.

1930 Census:
George has remarried to a Mary L., and living in Frozen, Harlan, Kentucky.

From TVA Reburial forms, 1935: Nora Roberts' records indicate that the nearest relative (husband) is George Roberts of Elcomb, KY. (Also mentioned in TVA documentation is Wallins Creek, KY.

Records show that Nora and her sister Ethel were both 1st buried in the old Miller family cemetery on Martin Luther Miller's old homestead, side by side.

Years later, Nora's family, daughter Louise Roberts Fleenor would call TVA and they would tell her that Nora was buried in Big Barren Cemetery. (They also sent the family a map) According to Nora's grandson, Ken Fleenor, Nora had no headstone so his mother Louise had a stone made. This is the stone pictured here.
