Wayne (Pat) Patterson, 70, of Hollis died early Friday, October 28, at Waurika Lake near Comanche, Oklahoma. Services were at 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 30, at the Hollis Church of Christ. Truman Teel, Plains Avenue Church of Christ in Dill City, OK, and Bob Garton, Church of Christ in Dodson, TX will officiate. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home.
Wayne was born February 5, 1924, in Wheeler, Texas, to Walter S. and Lula Maud Patterson. He married Jimmie V. Fillpot April 7, 1945, in Vernon, TX. Wayne graduated from Westview High School in 1942. He worked for Coley's Funeral Chapel in Hollis from 1944 until he went to Mortuary School at Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He bought Coley's Funeral Chapel from the Coley estate in 1978. He sold the funeral home to Bill Greer in 1988, when he retired. He was a volunteer fireman for the Hollis Fire Department for over 20 years, and a farmer and rancher.
Pallbearers were Frankie Long, Lloyd Hays, Rick Holder, Lonnie Long, Ron Zimmerman, Jim Moore and Bill Hair. Honorary Pallbearers were Glenn Elliott, G.D. Carrick, Hoyt Ellis, Durward Parker, Gene White, Odis Long, Gary Bernard, L.A. (Jack) Owen, Mark White and Owen Johnson.
Survivors include his wife Jimmie V. Patterson, Hollis; two children, Mary Beth Wagner and Dale Garrett, both of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Mahoma Mann, Plainview, TX, Gwendolyn Harvey and Fern (Pat) McCormack, both of Wichita Falls, TX and Ruby T. Holland, Brandon, MS; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patterson.
