Doris Ellen Cattin, 86, Peru, passed away at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Caring Hands Health Care.

Doris was born November 28, 1922 to Perry and Gladys (Hoagland) Haines in Peru. On September 14, 1939, she married Wayne D. Cattin. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1997.

A member of the Church of the Brethren in Peru, Doris was the quintessential stay-at-home wife and mother of the 40's, 50's and 60's. During those years, she was PTA President, Brownie Scout leader, 4-H leader and homeroom mother. She loved to sew, knit and crochet for her family.

In the early 70's, she worked at Clara Lee Bakery in Peru and was gift shop manager at Dukes Hospital. She and her husband were one of the original couples of the Jack & Jill Bowling League.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Ellen Harvey and her husband Pat, and Susan Cassel and her husband Steve, all of Peru; a son, David Cattin of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, Debbie Bowsher of Peru, Joseph Liska of Trinity, Fla., Lisa Frank of Kokomo, Lani Lind of Hickory, N.C., Stephanie Farquer of Metamora, Ill., and Stan Cassel of Peru; 10 great grandchildren, Alicia Liska, Travis and Josh Bowsher, Joey Liska, Allison and Haley Frank, Sam Lind, Katie Cassel, Owen and MacKenzie Farquer; sisters-in-law, Audrey Cattin Hiers of Peru, Mary Haines of Wabash and Betty Cattin of Bunker Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru, with Chaplain Julie Walker officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
