Perry Eli Haines, 59, died at his home, 359 Jefferson, at 8:30 a.m. Friday after a four years' illness of complications. He was a retired wire cutter, having been employed at Insulation and Wires, Inc.
Mr. Haines had spent his entire lifetime in this community. He was born in Nead May 17, 1893, the son of Richard and Susan Metzger Haines. He was married in 1917 to Gladys Hoagland and she survives.
Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Perety Kelly, of Walkerton, Ind., Clifford Haines, of North Liberty, Mrs. Wayne Cattin and Perry L. Haines, of Sarasota, Fla., and nine grandchildren. A daughter and one brother are deceased.
Mr. Haines was a member of the Peru Eagles Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday from the Drake-Flowers Funeral Home, and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday.
