Frank H. Phillips Jr., 87, of Muskogee, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009. He was born July 4, 1921 to Frank and Etta Perle (Edwards) Phillips in Muskogee where he was raised and educated, graduating in 1940. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. On April 12, 1947, Frank married Norma Ramsey. He was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a brakeman from 1947 until his retirement in 1981. Following his retirement, he opened a small engine repair shop which he operated about five years.Frank was a member of York Street Christian Church. He was a skilled craftsman. He loved woodworking and made many doll houses. Frank and his father built the home where he and Norma resided. He enjoyed gardening, and his large collection of model trains. He also enjoyed celebrating his July 4th birthday while the country celebrated our national birthday. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Phillips of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Frank and Dorma Phillips of Broken Arrow; daughter, Nancy Barton of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Josh Brandeberry and his wife, Lauren, of Edmond, Kimberly Phillips of Allen, TX and Justin Phillips of Broken Arrow; two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Nicholas Brandeberry and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at Fosters' Ivory Chapel with Mr. Gene Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
