Norma Lee Phillips, 85, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012.

She was born November 2, 1926 in Muskogee to Mitchell Ramsey and Doris Zimmerman Ramsey.

Norma attended school in Muskogee graduating from Central High School with the class of 1944. She met and later married Frank H. Phillips, on April 12, 1947 at the First Methodist Prayer Chapel. She worked as a bookkeeper for Muskogee Production Credit from which she retired on March 31, 1986 after 28 years of service.

Norma's hands and mind were seldom idle. She loved working the daily crossword puzzle and felt the day could not begin until the puzzle was completed. She was an avid reader, whether it was the newspaper or one of the books she would get on her frequent trips to the library.

Norma enjoyed learning to use her ipad in recent years, especially for email, playing Words with Friends and keeping up with the OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder. She loved basketball season. Norma was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed cross-stitch. She was also a member of a bridge club that included friends who played together for over 40 years.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Doris Ramsey, husband, Frank Phillips, brother, Jack Ramsey.

She is survived by her son, Stephen F. Phillips and wife Dorma of Broken Arrow, OK.; daughter, Nancy L. Barton of OKC, OK.; grandchildren, Joshua D. Brandeberry and wife Lauren of Edmond, OK., Kimberly M. Phillips of McKinney, TX., Justin K. Phillips of Jenks, OK.; great grandsons, Tristan Brandeberry and Nicholas Brandeberry both of OKC, OK; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bill Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com
