Died of scorbutus/scurvy (a deficiency of Vitamin C) at the infamous confederate prison, Andersonville. Peter served in Co. E, 7th IN Infantry Regiment.

Son of Micajah Hamilton & Elizabeth Luyster.
Husband of Elizabeth Dollins who preceded him in death in 1860. He then married Margaret Jane DeMott, dau. of Peter DeMott and Indiana Drury on 19 Apr 1861. She was 23 yrs younger than him.

Children with Elizabeth Dollins: Margaret Anne, John Newton, Willis Hensley, Peter, and George Scott Hamilton.
