Roger A. Harris--77, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2005, at Tompkins Memorial Health Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen Henderson and Rev. Timothy Geitz officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; son Gregg of Fort Dodge; daughter Kathy Bunda of Gowrie; 3 grandchildren, Kris, Kurt, and Katie Bunda; and a brother, Bruce Harris of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents Caryl E. and Esther V. (Bloomquist) Harris, and a brother Duane Q. Harris.
Roger A. Harris was born on October 31, 1927 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here. Following his education he enlisted with U.S. Navy in 1945 serving until his honorable discharge in 1946. Roger then returned to Fort Dodge. On March 19, 1948 he married Dorothy Burger and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Roger was employed with the Fort Dodge Container Company which later became the Mead Corporation as a forman until his retirement in 1981 due to ill health. Roger loved helping his family. He devoted a lot of his time to volunteering at St. Paul Lutheran Church and at Camp Okoboji where he also served on the board.
