"T.E. JACQUES DIES ~~ Retired Farmer of Valley Center Succumbs at 72 ~~ Theophilus Edwin Jacques, 72, retired farmer and a resident of the Wichita community for the past 30 years, died Tuesday night at his home, 2412 Burton, after a long illness.
Mr. Jacques was born in Brown county, Kansas, and resided near Valley Center for 20 years before coming to Wichita 10 years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Jacques had been in failing health for several years and had been spending the winters in Florida until this year when his condition was so serious that he could not make the trip.
This is the second death in the Jacques family this month. His brother, George, caretaker at Friendly Gables, died from a heart attack February 7.
Surviving are his wife, Ida M.; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Anthe, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Beulah Basore, Mrs. Verna Brooks and Mrs. Margaret Williams, all of Bentley; two sons, Robert and Ralph Jacques of Miami, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Elliott, Conway Springs; Mrs. Effie Wilhite and Mrs. Belle McDill, Los Angeles; three brothers, F. C., 1556 North Market; Arthur E. 1955 North Market; and Wilber, Pineville, LA. Funeral services will be announced by the Downing Mortuary. [Source: Wichita Evening Eagle, Wed. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Downing Mortuary with burial in Wichita Park Cemetery.
