Corbia Louis Stone, 76

The Rev. Corbia Louis Stone, 76, went to be with his Savior Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Care Manor Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 5, 1927, at Gamaliel to William S. and Almedia Walton Stone, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Emmanuel Church.

He was one of 17 children, of which only four sisters survive, Ethel Thayer of Cotter; Yutha Olinger and Faye Lamb, both of Mountain Home; and Hazel Lewis of Clarkridge.

On Dec. 28, 1991, he married Jan Berrier, originally of Valparaiso, IN, and they shared a beautiful love and ministry together. He was called out at a very young age to preach the Gospel and did so for 55 years. His wife survives, along with four daughters, Marilyn Ray of Mountain Home, Linda Nordyke of Bull Shoals and Janice George and Cinda Stone, both of Gassville; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Louise Stone; one son, Robert Stone; and one grandson, Joel Thomas Hicks.

He was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father, "Welcome home my good and faithful servant, come and take your rest."

A service was held at Emmanuel Church on Highway 5 North, with the Rev. Jerrel Venable officiating. Burial at Gassville Cemetery with James Ray, Sam Ray, Lynn Hicks, Louis Hicks, Rick Nordyke and Jason Nordyke as pallbearers. Joe Deen, Terry Morris, Wayne Morris, Curtis Casey, Don Nordyke and Francis Stone are honorary pallbearers. Arrangements are by Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society.
