Ethel C. Thayer, age 87 of Cotter, Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1921 in Gamaliel, Arkansas to the late William Spencer and Almedia (Walton) Stone.
Mrs. Thayer married Ted Thayer June 30, 1934 in Gassville, Arkansas. She retired as the kitchen manager for the Board of Education in Kansas City, Missouri for 20 years. She enjoyed her family and cooking. She was a member of the White River Full Gospel Church in Flippin, Arkansas.
Mrs. Thayer is survived by a son: Carl Thayer of Independence, Missouri, a sister: Yutha Olanger of Mountain Home, Arkansas, five grandchildren: Bridget Bean, Karen Stewart, JoAnn McFarland, Johnny Whitaker and Beth Shafer, three step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter: Margie Smith, a son: Darl Thayer and fifteen siblings.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Ragsdale officiating. A visitation will be from Saturday from Noon – 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
