MT. HERMAN, LA—Mrs. Smith, 93, died on Monday, December 29, 2003, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Born on November 6, 1910, in Mt. Herman, Louisiana, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Eugene B. Alford and Lorena Smith Alford and a graduate of Soule Business College in New Orleans. She was first employed as a secretary with Freeport Sulphur Co. in Louisiana and later became the Director of Volunteer Services for Runnels Hospital in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. She was a member of the Cape Coral United Methodist Church in Cape Coral, Florida.
Surviving are two sons, Randolph A. Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Warminster, Pennsylvania and R. Jeffrey Smith and his wife, Sheryl, of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Randy Smith and his wife, Jen, Stacey Smith Ward and her husband, Scott, Scott Smith, Brett Smith, and Katie Kyle; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Smith.
Her husband, Homer A. Smith preceded her in death.
A graveside service was held on Friday, January 2, 2004, at Bogue Chita [sic—Bogue Chitto] Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Herman, Louisiana. Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel handled arrangements.
