Franklinton, Washington Parish, LA—13 May 1948

Eugene Booth Alford, 65 years of age, died suddenly at his home in Mt. Hermon Saturday afternoon, May 8, following a heart attack. Mr. Alford was a native of Washington parish and his many friends were shocked to learn of his sudden death. He had been in failing health for a number of months but was active.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Bogue Chitto Baptist church with the Rev. W.F. Hutson officiating. Interment was made in the Bogue Chitto cemetery with the Brown Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Alford is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorena Smith Alford, of Mt. Hermon; five sons, Seth and Raymond of Mt. Hermon, Lt. Colonel Tharon Alford, AAF, Roy and Amos Alford, of Texas; four daughters, Mrs. James Evans and Mrs. Jewel Miller, of Bogalusa, Mrs. H. Smith, of New Jersey, and Mrs. Dewitt Sullivan, of New Orleans.
