Joy Louvenia Corbett Cronk, age 87, of Iron Gate, Virginia died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. She was born November 6, 1921 in Mustoe (Highland County), Virginia, a daughter of the late Amos and Carrie Kelly Corbett. She worked at the former H. O. Canfield and was a food service worker at the former Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital for more than thirty years. She was a member of Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church in Highland County, and attended Iron Gate Advent Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and serving others, but more than anything, loved being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James R. "Jim" Cronk, four sisters, Dehlia Alexander, Barbara C. Carpenter, Hazel E. Nicely, and Florence C. Gutshall, and five brothers, Willard Corbett, Arlie Corbett, Glen Corbett, Harper Corbett, and Porter Corbett. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James Elwood and Jenny Cronk of Covington, three grandchildren, Terry Cronk and fiancee Debra Bolt of Covington, Katie Bazzrea and husband Bruce of Clifton Forge, and Karen Givens and husband Ricky of Covington, four great grandchildren, Jessie and Jacob Givens, and Paige and Kelly Ann Bazzrea, two sisters-in-law, Margaret German Corbett and Eva Corbett, both of Troutville, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be George Toombs, Jr., Martin Corbett, Joe Corbett, Robert Campbell, Charles Corbett, Andy Corbett, Melvin Corbett, Howard Cronk, Jr., and alternate Mark Nicely.
