Plainsman Herald, Springfield, Colorado, February 21, 1946:
Military Funeral held for Sgt. Gibbons Sunday
Sgt. A. Gibbons was killed when his car went over an embankment on Panosha Pass near Fairplay, a week ago Monday and his funeral was held Sunday at Pritchett, at the Church of God, with Rev. J. W. Stuart in charge of the services.
A firing Squad of 5 soldiers and a 1st Lieutenant came from La Junta and were assisted by WW I and WW II Baca County veterans in the cemetery ceremony, when colors and a firing squad laid the soldier to rest with military honors.
Sgt. Gibbons is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Gibbons, who are pioneers of Baca County, living and operating the old Oklarado store before the dust storms a few years back, but now living in Pritchett.
Sgt. Gibbons was born and raised in the county and had a legion of friends, who regret the sad news of his sudden death.
