He was born December 16, 1933 in Peru Township, Ohio to the late Charles and Eva E. (Robinson) Grosswiler and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church and was a retired farmer. Bernie was also a former employee of the A.J. Riley Construction Company and Pete Sofios Construction Company. Bernie was also a member of Eagles Aerie #711 of Norwalk, the Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club and a former member of the Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Bernie is survived by his daughter and son in law, of Sarasota, Florida and by his 4 sons and daughters-in-law, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in law, of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his sister of Norwalk, Ohio. Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Thalia (Shupe) Grosswiler in 2000 and by his brothers, Paul, Charles, Rudolph, Jerome, Karl, Joseph, and Lucian Grosswiler and by his sisters, Lucille Sickinger, Isabelle Grosswiler, Dolores Leeds, and Marian Ritchie.
Friends may call on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Roger Smith, Pastor of Norwalk First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
