He was born in Duncansville on Nov. 13, 1902, a son of David and Emma (Strayer) Johnston, and was twice married, first to Sadie Weichel, who died in 1948, and then to Utoka Helsel in 1961.
Surviving are his wife and six children, Mrs. Blanche Dodson of Maple Hollow, Nelson D., of Sunbrook, Harry of Duncansville, Mrs. Helen Lee of Hollidaysburg, and James and Kim, at home; 20 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. David is also survived by two brothers; Earl of Duncansville and Roy, in California.
Mr. Johnston was a retired janitor, having worked in the Blair County Courthouse.
Friends will be received in the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home by Rev. Dan Hummel. Interment will be in Carson Valley Cemetery.
