Mr. Johnston retired as a machinist from Conrail on Nov. 9, 1981, after 40 years' service. He was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Duncansville, the son of David N. and Sadie (Witchell)Johnston. He married Bette Fowkes on May 1, 1945, in Duncansville.
Surviving are his wife, two children: Bonnie J. Troyer of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Corky of Duncansville, and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Blanche Dodson of Duncansville and Helen Lee of Prince Gallitzin.
Mr. Johnston was a member of Leamersville Grace Brethren
Church.
He was also a member of American Legion and Duncansville
VFW.
Mr. Johnston was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 588th Engineer and Pontoon Company.
He was a 1941 graduate of Holiidaysburg High School.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Liebegott-Fisher Funeral Home, Duncansville.
JOHNSTON - Services for Nelson D. Johnston of 2280 S. Old 6th Avenue Road, Duncansville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Liebegott-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., Duncansville, by Pastor John Gregory. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. today at
the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Leamersville Grace Brethren Church.
