A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Marlene "Marie" E. Bauer age 94, of St. Cloud. Marlene passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Marlene was born on August 15, 1914 in Ortonville, Minnesota to Anton and Anna (Karels) Cordie. She was raised in west central Minnesota. Marlene married Tobias J. Bauer on March 19, 1949 in Foley. One son was born to this union. Marlene worked as a housekeeper for Val and Audrey Gerads for many years. She was also involved in volunteer work at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital as well as work for many other causes.
Survivors include her children, LeRoy (Mary) Bauer of St. Cloud, Shirley Hayes of IL, and Jacquie Carroll of Puerto Rico; also many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers, Gene (Joanne), Virgil, and Don (Marion); sisters, Joyce Lawrence, and Rose (Jerome) Leavens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tobias in 2004; daughter, Sharon Buhl; brothers, Al and Jim; sisters, Hildegard, Rita, Evelyn, Ida, Geraldine, Lois, Alice, and Antonia.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
