Joyce E. Lawrence, age 64, of Watertown, formerly of Hancock, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 19, 1948, in Odessa, MN, the daughter of Anton and Isabel (Keeler) Cordie.
Joyce adored her family, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
She raised her children in Hancock, where she was co-owner of Lawrence's Food Market and also owned and operated Sunshine Corner Day Care.
Joyce received her GED and obtained her nursing asst. certificate. The certificate allowed her to work at nursing homes, where taking care of the residents brought her great joy.
Joyce was a "people person" and she loved to visit with anyone she came in contact with, most likely over a cup of coffee. She loved the Christmas season and decorating the house for the holiday.
Joyce had many pastimes, which included crocheting, flower gardening, baking, and cooking.
She was a very devoted to her Catholic faith wherever she resided.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Isabel Cordie; and siblings Hildegard Skay, Marie Bauer, Aloyus Cordie, Rita Kelly, Evelyn Peschel, Dolly Loy, Geraldine Bruns, Lois Maitrejean, Alice Streich, Antonia Billings, and James Cordie.
She is survived by her loving family: children and spouses Steve and Shirley Lawrence of Watertown, Sherri and Graham Parsons of Montrose, and Donald and Katie Lawrence of Becker; grandchildren Tracey (Terrance) Williams, Jessica Lawrence, Jacob Lawrence, Tarra Parsons, Travis Parsons, Justin Lawrence, Hannah Lawrence, Deedra Lawrence, and Ellie Lawrence; and great-grandchildren Allyson, Tamara, Caitlyn, Aidan, and Teagan.
Joyce is further survived by her siblings and spouses, Don and Marion Cordie of Aitkin, Rose and Jerome Leavens of Flippin, AR, Eugene and JoAnn Cordie of Deerwood, and Virgil Cordie of Chico, CA; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Martin Shallbetter as celebrant of the Mass. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, April 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.
Joyce's grandchildren were her casket bearers.
